Vol. 338 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Galway Welfare Home.

110.

asked the Minister for Health when a welfare home will be provided in South Galway.

The Western Health Board plans to provide residential homes for the aged with supporting day care facilities in Ballinasloe, Gort and Portumna. As far as Ballinasloe is concerned, a site has been acquired in the town and a sketch plan, costings and engineering proposals for the home and day care facility have been submitted to my Department.

The rate at which the Ballinasloe project can proceed will depend on the availability of capital funds to the health board and also on the degree of priority which the board can afford it in relation to other capital developments in its area. The Western Health Board has not yet acquired sites for the proposed home in Gort and Portumna.
