Vol. 338 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

239.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction tenders for the proposed augmentation of the Charleville water supply, County Cork.

Proposals for the acceptance of a tender for the civil works for the Charleville (Rathluirc) water supply augmentation scheme were received in my Department on 14 October 1982 and are at present being examined. Proposals for the acceptance of tenders in respect of treatment plant and pumping plant have not yet been submitted. In the circumstances, I regret I am not at present in a position to say when a decision on these will issue to Cork County Council.

240.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position of the proposed Kilbrim sewerage scheme, County Cork.

Preliminary proposals for Kilbrim sewerage scheme are under consideration in my Department. The proposals must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for water and sewerage schemes and the number of schemes in progress or getting to construction at the present time and for which adequate finance must be provided. I cannot at present say when I will be in a position to approve the proposals for the scheme.
