asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6, as he has been on the waiting list for over four years.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary engineering work will be completed until next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored to a firm (details supplied) in Dublin 12.

Service will be restored within the next few days.

371.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reasons a suitable telephone service cannot be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

It is planned to provide a new digital exchange in Clondalkin next year to replace the existing exchange there, and this is expected to improve the service considerably. Meanwhile, every effort will be made to ensure the best possible standard of service for subscribers with the existing equipment.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware of difficulties which have arisen for a farmer (details supplied) in County Cork whose normal telephone bill was around £60 and who received a bill in May for £600 after which he was disconnected; and if he will have the problem fully investigated and service restored.

The amount referred to included arrears which had built up during the previous few years and which had been included regularly in the subscribers quarterly accounts.

The question of re-providing telephone service cannot be considered until the outstanding accounts are fully paid.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will have an additional telephone line installed for a firm (details supplied) in County Galway as a matter of urgency.

It is expected that an additional telephone will be installed within about three months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is proposed. to erect a telephone kiosk at Tawneylea, County Leitrim, which was sanctioned three years ago.

It is unlikely that a telephone kiosk will be provided at Tawneylea, County Leitrim, for a considerable time owing to the large amount of engineering work involved.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will transfer a telephone as a matter of urgency for a person (details supplied) in Tallaght, County Dublin.

Terms are being quoted to the person named. Service will be provided within about three months after the necessary agreement has been signed.

(Donegal South-West) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the exchanges in South West Donegal which are due for conversion to automatic during (a) 1983 and (b) 1984; and when he expects that all of County Donegal will be converted to automatic.

The following exchanges in South West Donegal are expected to be converted to automatic working during (a) 1983 and (b) 1984.

(a) 1983: Ballintra, Bunbeg, Donegal, Dungloe, Glenties, Gweedore, Inver, Laghey, Mountcharles.

(b) 1984: Annagry, Ardara, Arranmore, Ballybofey, Burtonport, Carrick, Cloghan, Clooney, Creeslough, Doochary, Dunkineely, Fintown, Glencol-umbkille, Kilcar, Killybegs, Kincasslagh, Lettermacaward, Rosbeg, Tory Island.

It is hoped that all exchanges in County Donegal will have been converted to automatic working by the end of 1984.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3.

Telephone service was offered to the person named late last year. The application was cancelled in the absence of a response. If service is required a fresh application should be made.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the action being taken to improve the poor telephone service for a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will be granted a rental rebate.

The subscriber is now satisfied with the service. A rebate of rental was allowed in respect of interruptions of service earlier in the year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the present position regarding a transfer of a telephone service for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

It has not been possible to trace an application on behalf of the person named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information about the application, e.g., when and where the application was made, further efforts will be made to trace it.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in installing a telephone for a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

It has not been possible to provide telephone service for the person named so far because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in County Cork area.

It is expected that service will be provided within about a year.

Service was provided almost a year ago.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will facilitate the transfer of a telephone service for a person (details supplied) in Dublin as a matter of urgency.

Service will be transferred as soon as possible for the person named but it is unlikely that it will be possible to do so until well into next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the action he proposes to take to deal with the unsatisfactory telephone and telex services being experienced by a firm (details supplied) in County Dublin.

Arrangements are being made to have the telephone installation specially examined.

There is no record of any recent reports of faults on the firm's telex installation, and it has been confirmed that this service is satisfactory.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will ensure that the recurring fault on the telephone line of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin is repaired immediately; and if he will allow a rental rebate to the person concerned.

The subscriber is now satisfied with the service.

A rebate of rental was allowed in respect of an interruption of service earlier in the year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will take immediate action to deal with the unsatisfactory service being experienced by telephone subscribers in the Rathcoole and Saggart areas of County Dublin; and if he will grant all subscribers a rental rebate for the duration their telephones were out of order.

There is no report of any serious disruption of telephone service in the Rathcoole and Saggart areas in recent months.

If the Deputy will let me have details of specific complaints I will have them investigated.

Service was provided for the person named about four years ago.

Complaints by the subscriber about the quality of the service are having attention.
