Vol. 338 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Cork AnCO Centre.

274.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of people who applied for courses in the AnCO training centre, Cork; and the number of people accepted for training in 1981-82.

During the 21 month period, upto 30 September 1982, AnCO received applications on behalf of 5,950 persons for training, other than as apprentices, at the AnCO training centre in Cork. During the same period the AnCO centre in Cork provided training for 3,597 people. This figure includes persons already in training on 31 December 1980.

The above figures exclude apprentices as they apply for training through the National Manpower Service for AnCO sponsored training places and directly to employers. Apprentices may be assigned to any AnCO centre in the country. During the 21 month period in question 5,540 persons from the county of Cork applied for AnCO sponsored first year off the job training places. Some of these 5,540 applicants also applied for other AnCO courses. During the same period AnCO provided training for 761 apprentices, including those already in training on 31 December 1980, through its Cork centre.

Questions Nos. 275 to 278, inclusive, withdrawn.
