Vol. 338 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Dublin Pedestrian Crossing.

300.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the serious traffic problems on Fassaugh Road, Dublin, and of a request from the local residents to have a controlled pedestrain crossing there, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of such a facility is a matter for Dublin Corporation acting in conjunction with the Garda Commissioner. I am informed that a proposal to upgrade the existing zebra crossing at Fassaugh Road/Eithne Road by the provision of "pelican" lights has been approved by the corporation's Traffic Study Group. I understand, however, that the corporation cannot at this stage indicate when the lights will be installed.
