Vol. 338 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Hospital Services Cutbacks.

80.

asked the Minister for Health the extent of the cutbacks in the hospital services, consequent on the directive from the Southern Health Board, in respect of the following institutions in County Kerry: (i) County Hospital, Tralee, (ii) Edenburn Hospital, Tralee, and (iii) St. Finan's Hospital, Killarney.

It is understood from the Southern Health Board that the measures which are being implemented to secure savings in the hospitals mentioned relate to the following areas of expenditure: overtime, employment of substitutes, on-call payments, purchases, heat and light, travel and transport. Corresponding measures have been introduced in other hospitals in the health board's area and in hospitals throughout the country.
