Vol. 338 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Occasional Trading Licence.

222.

asked the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism whether he is disposed to exempt those organising and participating in "Antiques Fairs" from the requirement of paying a fee for an occasional trading licence.

There is no provision in the Occasional Trading Act, 1979, which empowers me to exempt any person from paying the prescribed fees for an occasional trading permit. I am empowered, however, to exclude classes of selling and, in fact, I have already considered, and rejected, an application made in respect of persons trading at antique fairs. I have not since become aware of any reasons which would cause me to consider reversing this decision.
