Vol. 338 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Petrol Retail Price.

225.

asked the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism if he intends to recommend to the Government that the retail price of petrol be decontrolled but monitored; if he is satisfied that in so doing the general retail price of petrol will be reduced; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am not considering any proposal for the decontrol of petroleum product prices. I do not accept that decontrol would lead to a general reduction in the retail price of petrol.
