Vol. 339 No. 4

Written Answers. - British Revenue Officials' Activities.

692.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that British revenue officials have come to this country and questioned Irish citizens about their financial affairs; and whether he will make representations to the British authorities to have these activities discontinued.

I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that they are aware that from time to time visits to this country are made by officials of the United Kingdom Inland Revenue for the purpose of making inquiries relating to evasion of United Kingdom tax and the implementation of double taxation arrangements. The commissioners are informed of such visits by the Inland Revenue. In these circumstances, I do not propose to make representations to the British authorities as suggested.
