asked the Minister for Health if a provision will be made in the 1983 Health Estimates for additional orthopaedic theatres at Merlin Park Regional Hospital, Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am at present reviewing the capital allocation of my Department taking account of the contractual commitments entered into, the level of resources available to me and the priorities of the health agencies.

I am not therefore in a position to say when the go ahead can be given to the construction of the additional orthopaedic theatres at Merlin Park.
