asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give a detailed report on expenditure to date under the Western Package with particular reference to the total grants paid under each classification and the total expenditure on the administration of the scheme.

Grants paid up to 31 December 1982 under the measures collectively known as the Western Package were as follows:

These measures are implemented as part of the normal work of the Departments and other bodies concerned and separate figures for the cost of administering these particular schemes are not kept.

(a) This part of the package was delayed by industrial action and is only now becoming operational.
