982.

asked the Minister for Education if she will agree to meet a deputation of parents from Roscahill national school, County Galway, to discuss the proposed extension to the school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

983.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding an extension to St. Annins' national school, Killanin, County Galway.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 982 and 983 together.

Sketch-plans for a permanent extension to St. Annins' national school, Roscahill, County Galway, were approved on 12 November 1981. It was decided subsequently that an additional classroom would be needed and the Commissioners of Public Works were requested on 2 April 1982 to provide for this room in the planning. The commissioners informed the Department that fresh sketch-plans had to be prepared. The revised plans were received in my Department on 24 January and are being examined.

984.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed extension to St. Mary's national school, Letterfrack, Connemara, County Galway.

The provision of an additional permanent classroom at Letterfrack national school, County Galway, was approved in principle in February 1981. The Commissioners of Public Works have reported that it is possible to provide this room on the existing school site and the chairman has been so informed. It is understood from the chairman that the board of management has agreed in principle to this extension.

Pending the erection of the permanent room, a prefabricated classroom has been provided.
