Vol. 339 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meeting with British Prime Minister.

2.

asked the Taoiseach if he has sought a meeting with the British Prime Minister; and, if so, the result.

There are no plans at present for a meeting but both the Prime Minister and I will, of course, be attending the European Council in Brussels in March.

Is the Taoiseach in a position to rebut rumours or indications that have been circulating to the effect that he has sought a meeting and been refused?

Yes. No meeting has been sought, never mind refused.

I would like to speak about our side in this regard. There has been no approach for a summit meeting with the British Prime Minister which has been rejected. It is important that we should understand that.
