Vol. 339 No. 4

Written Answers. - Oranmore (Galway) Pedestrian Crossing.

382.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve an allocation for the provision of a controlled pedestrian crossing at Oranmore, County Galway from the national primary road fund.

The cost of this work would normally fall to be financed from the local authority's own resources supplemented by the block grant for roads allocated annually by my Department.

The local authority have, however, requested the allocation of a national road improvement grant to meet the cost involved. My Department are considering if the making of such an allocation would be justified in the circumstances of this case. A decision on this matter will be made shortly.
