asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in regard to an application for a house improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy was paid on the 21 December 1982.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

This grant has been paid.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a chimney grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway as he completed the work in May 1982.

A grant of £600 was paid in this case on 21 December, 1982.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for the mortgage subsidy from the person named.

The grant in this case will be paid shortly.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the current scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant has been so informed.
