Vol. 339 No. 4

Written Answers. - Louth Housing Scheme.

458.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is proposed to proceed with the housing scheme at Clogherhead, County Louth.

Under devolved procedures local authorities may build schemes of up to sixty houses or less without my prior sanction, subject to a number of requirements including local consultations with my Department's inspector, agreement to unit costs and keeping within the available capital allocation.

I understand that, following recent consultations at local level with my Department's inspector, the county council can now proceed to prepare contract documents for the first phase of the scheme at Clogherhead and accordingly the council should be in a position to go to tender with this scheme shortly.
