Vol. 339 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Property Disposal.

481.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the reason for the delay in disposing of property which is owned by his Department and which is adjacent to Galway Harbour; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I am sure the Deputy is aware, before State property is disposed of it is standard procedure to consult with all Government Departments to ascertain whether the property might be required for further use by the State and, in the event of its not being required, to obtain the views of interested Departments as to how it might be disposed of.

In the case of the disposal of State property at Lough Atalia adjacent to Galway Harbour which is not now required by my Department for fishery development, the views of other Departments have been obtained and are at present under consideration.
