Vol. 339 No. 7

Written Answers. - Ambulance Advisory Council.

347.

asked the Minister for Health if he received any submissions from the ambulance advisory council in the past two years; and, if so, the contents of these submissions.

The Consultative Council on the Ambulance Services was replaced in 1976 by the Ambulance Services Committee. This is an informal advisory group representative of the Department of Health, the health boards, the Dublin Fire Brigade service and the Army. Since it was established the committee has made recommendations to my Department on the organisation and development of the ambulance services. In the past two years the committee has made a number of submissions including recommendations on ambulance design specifications and equipment, radio/telephone communications for health board ambulances, health board major accident plans and grading structures and training requirements for ambulance personnel, which have been taken account of in the organisation and development of these services.
