Vol. 340 No. 3

Written Answers. - Employment Appeals Tribunal Award.

212.

asked the Minister for Labour if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Dublin has not yet paid the £520 awarded to an employee by the Employment Appeals Tribunal on 23 August 1982 and that correspondence with his Department up to 24 January 1983 in relation to enforcement of the order has been unfruitful; and when it is proposed to initiate proceedings in the courts to enforce the order given against the person.

My Department were first informed on 15 December, 1982 that the person concerned was not paid the compensation awarded to him by the Employment Appeals Tribunal. In accordance with normal practice the Department then made efforts to persuade the employer to pay the amount due. However, as these efforts have not proved successful, it is now proposed to institute legal proceedings against the employer and the case is at present being prepared for prosecution.
