Vol. 340 No. 3

Written Answers. - Seanad Election Candidate.

220.

asked the Minister for Finance the cost to his Department of the letters circulated by him seeking support for a particular person who was a candidate for election by the National University of Ireland in the Seanad general election.

The letters to which the Deputy refers were sent to graduate voters in the Seanad election who are resident in my constituency.

My Department's involvement was limited to the typing of the master copy of the letters, typing the envelopes and enclosing the letters therein. This work was done by the staff of my private office as part of their normal duties in handling my constituency correspondence. There was no additional cost to the Department.
