Vol. 340 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - London Irish Embassy Officials.

5.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of officials employed in the trade section of the Irish Embassy in London; and the number of officials from this section who were on leave or absent on Friday, 31 December 1982.

The Economic and Commercial Section of the Embassy is staffed by two counsellors, two officers of higher executive officer rank, one executive officer and two clerical officers. Of these seven officers, two counsellors and one higher executive officer were on duty on Friday, 31 December 1982.

Is the Minister satisfied there was sufficient staffing on that date?

Is the Minister aware that many of the Irish community in London are appalled at the way the embassy is being run?

I am not. From my contacts with the Irish community in London I know they are extremely satisfied with the way the Irish Embassy operates.
