Vol. 340 No. 8

Written Answers. - Career Guidance Teacher.

384.

asked the Minister for Education if she is prepared to allocate a career guidance teacher to cater for pupils in the Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry.

Appointments of teachers to secondary schools recognised under the Rules for Secondary Schools are made by the authorities of the schools. The authorised quota of teachers to whom incremental salary may be paid is determined in accordance with the Rules for Payment of Incremental Salary to Secondary Teachers, which are of general application. It is not open to me to accord recognition to a guidance teacher for pupils in any area other than in accordance with the relevant official regulations.
