Vol. 340 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Limerick Speed Limits.

411.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the delay in approving proposals for speed limits in Adare, County Limerick, which were forwarded to his Department by Limerick County Council.

412.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in approving the proposals for a speed limit for Clarina, County Limerick, which has been with his Department for a considerable time.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 411 and 412 together. Proposals for the introduction of 40 mph speed limits at Adare and Clarina and for an extension of the 30 mph speed limit area at Adare were included by Limerick County Council in a general review of speed limits for their area which was submitted to my Department in February 1982.

Before finalising the necessary regulations, additional information has had to be sought from the local authority on certain aspects of their proposals and a reply from the authority on some of these matters is still outstanding. At this stage, however, I hope to make the revised speed limit regulations for County Limerick with little further delay.
