Vol. 340 No. 10

Written Answers. - Wexford Industrial Estate.

447.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will allocate a site on the Wexford town industrial estate to a business person (details supplied) in County Wexford whose lease in his present premises expires in two months.

I am informed that the Industrial Development Authority own 100 acres of land on the Rosslare Road, 22 acres at Whitemills Road and seven acres in the former Pierce complex in Wexford town. These sites are maintained and being promoted for manufacturing industry and international services projects.

I understand that the person referred to in the Deputy's question is operating a wholesale business with no manufacturing content. It is not IDA's policy to lease land or factories for warehousing or wholesale operations. I have been informed that there are a number of privately owned vacant premises in the area which may be suitable for this person's purpose.
