Vol. 340 No. 10

Written Answers. - Handicapped Young Adults' Accommodation.

503.

asked the Minister for Health if he will approve the planning and funding of a proposed project to accommodate severely handicapped young adults which is being partially funded by local voluntary contributions under the auspices of the association of parents and friends of severely retarded children in Enniscorthy, County Wexford.

The present position regarding the proposed residential centre for the mentally handicapped at Enniscorthy is that the project team, on which my Department and the South-Eastern Health Board are represented, is at present nearing completion of the preparation of the planning brief for the facilities to be provided at the centre. I expect that the planning brief will be submitted for approval to my Department within the coming weeks. The commencement of the detailed planning of this project will be given due consideration within the total capital resources available to me.
