Vol. 340 No. 10

Written Answers. - Louth Motor Transport Grant Application.

504.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a motor transport grant was refused to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; if he is aware that the person requires this car to seek employment as a totally disabled person; and if he will review this case.

In order to be considered for a motorised transport grant, applicants must require an adapted vehicle to obtain or retain employment. The person in question was refused the grant on the grounds that he is unemployed with no prospect of obtaining a job in the near future.

The person is in receipt of a disabled person's maintenance allowance at the maximum rate. This allowance is payable to persons who, due to a disability are unlikely to be capable of work for at least one year.
