asked the Minister for Agriculture when headage grants for 1981 and 1982 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 592 and 593 together.

The herds of the persons named were treated as a single unit for headage purposes because the cattle in them were intermixing. Payment of the maximum amount of £872 payable for cattle headage grants under the 1981 disadvantaged areas scheme was made, therefore, on 23 June 1982 to the first person named and no further payment falls to be made under that year's scheme. The maximum amount payable for cattle headage grants under the 1982 disadvantaged areas scheme will be made jointly to both persons named in the very near future.
