asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the financial assistance provided by the State to the Dublin Gas Company by way of grants, loans, subsidies or other aid in each year from 1976 to 1982, inclusive.

: The only financial assistance provided by my Department to Dublin Gas Company for the years 1976 to 1982, was in the form of subsidy payable through the company to consumers of town gas. Subsidies were, of course, payable to town gas consumers in other cities and towns with a gas supply system.

The amounts for Dublin in each of the years in question are set out in a tabular statement which I propose to circulate with the Official Report.
