Vol. 341 No. 6

Written Answers . - Oil Price Reduction .

835.

asked the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism the date from which oil products will be reduced in price; by how much they will be reduced; the price reduction to the consumer; and the date from which it will apply.

: The price reductions to which the question relates have, in fact, already been brought about. The relevant order came into effect at wholesale level on 1 April 1983 and at retail level on 5 April 1983. The new reduced prices are set out in the Maximum Prices (Petroleum Products) (No. 4) Order, 1983, S.I. No. 93 of 1983, which was presented to the Dáil on 31 March and is now available in the Dáil Library and full details were published in the daily newspapers on 2 April 1983.

Provision having been made for increases in excise duties of 6p (including VAT) per gallon on petrol and 4p (including VAT) per gallon on road diesel the net reductions at retail level provided for in the order range from 6.6p to 10.6p per gallon on petrol. The reductions at wholesale level range from 3.41p to 5.87p per gallon on road diesel, from 6p to 7.5p per gallon on industrial gas oil and home heating oil and from 1p to 3.5p per gallon on industrial fuel oil.
