Vol. 341 No. 6

Written Answers . - Water Supply Revenue .

512.

asked the Minister for the Environment the local authorities who did not charge for the supply of water to householders in 1982; and the estimated revenue from this source in 1983.

: Of those authorities empowered to charge for domestic water supplies in 1982, the information furnished to my Department during 1982 indicated that Louth and Leitrim county councils did not impose such charges. I am not in a position to estimate the income from such charges in 1983.

513.

asked the Minister for the Environment the local authorities who (1) charged for the supply of water to householders in 1982; (2) the amount charged in each case; and (3) the amount collected in each area.

: According to returns made to my Department by the county councils in 1982, all of them except Leitrim and Louth charged householders for water in 1982 but, while the amounts collected in each case are not available in my Department, particulars of the scale of charges in each case are set out in a tabular statement which I propose to circulate with the Official Report. Information is not available as to the urban authorities which availed of their powers to levy charges for water supplied to householders outside their own administrative areas or of the amount collected in such charges.
