Vol. 341 No. 6

Written Answers . - County Limerick Water and Sewerage Schemes .

649.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the environment (a) the water and (b) the sewerage schemes in County Limerick waiting to be sanctioned by his Department; and the schemes it is proposed to sanction in 1983.

: Contract documents have been submitted to my Department by Limerick County Council in respect of the following:

(a) Water Schemes — Limerick City Ring Watermain; Castletroy Water Supply Scheme; Kilmallock Regional Water Supply Scheme; Limerick South West Water Supply Scheme — Stage 2B. (b) Sewerage Schemes — Newcastle-west Sewerage Scheme; Croom Sewerage Scheme (Civil Works).

These schemes must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for sanitary services and the number of schemes of high priority under construction or getting to construction for which finance must be provided and I am not in a position at this stage to say when decisions can be taken on them. Already in 1983 I have sanctioned the Ballyagran water supply scheme, which will be carried out by Limerick County Council's direct labour force at an estimated cost of over £400,000.
