: My Department's only information on this matter relates to a number of traffic counts taken on the Barna-Carraroe road in connection with national traffic surveys conducted for it by An Foras Forbartha. A summary of these counts is set out in the tabular statement below. The data involved has been available to Galway County Council as the responsible road authority.
Special road grants totalling £0.5 million have been made available by my Department since 1981 for the strengthening and improvement of the R336 (Galway to Costelloe) and R343 (Costelloe to Carraroe) roads.
