asked the Minister for Finance if he will authorise the Commissioners for Public Works to commission a geological study of the karst area of South Galway in order to provide comprehensive information on the ground water structure of the area as a preliminary to drainage, this survey to be carried out by the Geological Survey Office or by the geological department of a third level college.

: The Commissioners of Public Works have commissioned a hydrogeologist to undertake a groundwater study of the area in question; the study is required in connection with the proposed drainage scheme for the Dunkellin-Lavally catchment areas.
