asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have a final inspection for a £1,000 new house grant carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the application has been made for some time.

: The file in this case has been referred to my Department's inspector for investigation and report with a view to approval of a grant and mortgage subsidy.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan.

: There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a £1,000 grant from the person named.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

: A maximum grant of £150 in respect of sewerage facilities together with an instalment of £500 of a house improvement grant were paid to the person named on 28 January 1980. Under the Housing Regulation, 1980 (as amended) the latest date for completion of work and receipt in the Department of a claim for payment of a grant was 30 June 1981. As this requirement was not complied with in respect of the balance of the house improvement grant or in respect of a water grant approved, the outstanding amounts cannot be paid.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the first instalment of a £700 house grant and the second instalment of a mortgage subsidy which were due in November 1982, and April 1983, respectively, will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

: The first instalment of £750 of the mortgage subsidy has been paid. The second instalment due in April 1983 will be paid as soon as possible after a completed and certified claim form has been received in my Department.

636.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the new house grant application of a person (details supplied) in County Meath was refused; and if he will detail the reasons as an independent engineer states that it is within 1,346 square feet.

: This application was rejected because the floor area of the house (exclusing the boiler house) is 129.25 metres which is in excess of the maximum allowable for grant purposes (125 sq. metres). However, if the applicant submits details of the independent engineer's calculations, his case will be reexamined.

637.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection which was requested 12 weeks ago by a person (details supplied) in County Offaly for house improvement grant purposes will be carried out.

: There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with the same name but from a different address. The position in this case is that arrangements are being made to have an inspection carried out as soon as possible.
