asked the Minister for Agriculture when the balance of a grant due under the dairy herd conversion scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

: The person named is a participant in the scheme for non-marketing of milk and milk products. His herd and holding were recently inspected and the next instalment of premium will accordingly be paid to him within the next three weeks. The final instalment is payable in 1985.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a beef heifer scheme grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

: The person named is ineligible for grants under the 1982 scheme of assistance for the expansion of the cattle breeding herd as the number of cows and first-calved heifers found in his herd at inspection in 1982 was less than the number of cows in his basic herd.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give details of grant payments, including grants from the hardship fund, to a person (details supplied) in County Galway who lost his dairy herd as a result of TB and brucellosis; and if any further assistance can be given to this farmer who is now in serious financial difficulties.

: In the period 1978 to 1980 payments amounting to £2,220 (including £560 from the Hardship Fund) were made under the brucellosis eradication scheme to the person named. The disease eradication schemes do not provide for any further financial assistance in this case.
