Vol. 342 No. 5

Written Answers. - Functions of Minister of State.

452.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the functions delegated to the Minister of State at his Department.

While specific functions have not been formally delegated to the Minister of State at my Department, I have arranged that, in addition to matters assigned to him by me on an ad hoc basis from time to time, his responsibility relates to the operation, subject to my overall control on policy, finance, legislation etc., of a number of specific services, details of which will be circulated with the Official Report.

Following are the details: building industry (other than employment); building control; physical planning including land price control and urban affairs; roads and road safety; environment (waste disposal, pollution control, itinerants); sanitary services including water safety; An Foras Forbartha; fire services; private housing grants and finances; private rented accommodation; import substitution and combined purchasing.
