Vol. 343 No. 4

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - State Papers.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if there are any further plans for the release of State papers to the Public Record Office; and, if so, if he will give details of these plans.

Cabinet papers and associated files are released on a 30-year basis and on that basis the records of the 1951-54 Government would fall to be released next year to the State Paper Office which shares a common staff with the Public Record Office. It is expected that when the National Archives Bill, at present under consideration, becomes law Departments generally will begin to release their papers on such a 30-year basis also.
