Vol. 343 No. 4

Written Answers. - Income Tax Rebate.

667.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange to pay a rebate of income tax to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, which is owed for a number of years; and the reason for the delay in this case.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that residential accommodation was provided by the taxpayer's employer at a low rent up to January, 1980, when the premises were purchased by the taxpayer. The benefits-in-kind taken by the taxpayer from this favoured letting still require to be resolved by the inspector of taxes.

While the taxpayer has continued to press for settlement of his open tax position the inspector requires further information to examine the extent of the taxable benefits arising, and the taxpayer has been asked to supply this necessary information.
