Vol. 343 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

630.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an application for a grant will be processed for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. A maximum house improvement grant of £600 was however paid in December 1981 to a person of the same surname and address but with a different christian name. There was no reference in this application to the installation of a water supply.

631.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a home improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and when it will be paid.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from a person of the name and address supplied. There are, however, applications under the old and current scheme from a person of the same name but the addresses do not correspond.

The application under the old scheme was refused because, contrary to a qualifying condition as laid down in the Housing Regulations 1980, as amended, notification of the completion of work and a claim for payment of the grant were not received in the Department by 30 June 1981. In relation to the application under the current scheme relevant evidence of planning permission is awaited.

632.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. The inspection will be carried out as quickly as possible.

633.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

The delay in this case was due to a problem relating to the certificate of reasonable value and this has now been resolved. The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

634.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new house grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and when it will be paid.

A grant cannot be paid until an inspection establishes that the house is satisfactorily completed and occupied and complies with all other conditions of the grant scheme. The file in this case is with the inspector for investigation and report with a view to payment of the grant.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

The application for a grant was rejected in this case because the person named indicated on the application form that, contrary to a condition of the scheme, he was in occupation of the house for more than one year prior to receipt of the application in my Department. An appeal against this decision is being considered.

There has been no undue delay in dealing with this case. The file is at present with the Department's inspector for investigation and report with a view to payment of the grant.
