Vol. 343 No. 11

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

600.

asked the Minister for Health if he will resume payment of disabled persons maintenance allowance to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon, as she was in receipt of pension for the past 10 years; and the reason she is now deemed ineligible for pension.

Following a recent examination by a medical officer of the Western Health Board the person in question was found to be no longer eligible for the allowance on medical grounds.

It is now open to the person to apply for unemployment assistance from the Department of Social Welfare or for a supplementary welfare allowance from the Western Health Board.

626.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will expedite the payment of unemployment benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

690.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason unemployment benefit was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon as he applied in mid-April.

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 626 and 690 together.

The person concerned is a postal applicant and he was requested to furnish a form P45 or a statement from his former employer showing that he had become unemployed but he did not do so. The information to enable his entitlement to unemployment benefit to be determined was eventually obtained by his local office who got in touch with his employer.

His unemployment benefit claim was allowed at the maximum rate £68.05 weekly and arrangements have been made to issue him with an order payable at his local post office this week paying all arrears due.

Further weekly payments will be made as they become due.
