It is not a function of Cospóir to make specific proposals for the building of community and sporting complexes in particular locations throughout the country. Such projects are initiated by local authorities, community groups, sports organisations, and so on.
Administration of the scheme of capital grant assistance for such projects entitled the Community, Youth, Recreational and Employment Programme, has been transferred from my Department to the Department of Labour.
I have conveyed to the Minister of State at the Department of Labour the general views of Cospóir on how the Recreation Facilities Scheme could be improved.
