Mr. Leonard

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of an unexpected increase of 120 pupils in County Monaghan's five vocational schools next year, she will withdraw her recommendation for a reduction in teachers; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for Education if she is aware of the increase in the number of pupils who will attend the five vocational schools in County Monaghan next year; and what the position will be regarding the number of teachers in the VEC schools in County Monaghan.

171.

asked the Minister for Education if an increase is expected in the number of additional pupils attending the five vocational schools in County Monaghan in the year 1983-84; if her Department intend to reduce the number of teachers; and the reason for this decision.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 169, 170 and 171 together.

Following the allocation of teaching staff for the school year 1983-84, an appeal was received from the County Monaghan Vocational Education Committee. The appeal has been considered and the Department's decision in the matter has been conveyed to the committee.
