Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - VEC Classes.

179.

Mr. Leonard

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the cost of travel and overnight stay for students attending regional colleges, she is prepared to widen the scope of VEC classes; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am not satisfied that provision could be made in second level vocational schools for courses of third level standard appropriate to regional technical colleges, or colleges of corresponding level of staffing and educational facilities. I am prepared to consider proposals from committees for the recognition in second level schools of such courses of second level standard in special subjects as may be considered desirable in particular circumstances.
