The question of the need for new regional technical colleges or for additional third-level places is kept under continuous review in my Department.
The Clancy Report on Participation in Higher Education recently published by the Higher Education Authority shows that County Louth is sixth highest in the ranking of counties by rates of admission to higher education and third highest in relation to the technological sector. Drogheda is part of the region served by Dundalk Regional Technical College and the establishment of a second regional technical college in County Louth is not being planned at this time.
