The average time lapse between the receipt of an application and the carrying out of a first inspection is six weeks. The period elapsing between application and first inspection is closely monitored in all areas to ensure that there are no avoidable delays but given, in particular, the volume of applications received it is inevitable that cases will arise in which there will be delays longer than the normal.
