Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Drogheda Roads.

225.

asked the Minister for the Environment the grant money available to Drogheda Corporation for 1983 for the reconstruction of the Rathmullan Road, Drogheda, County Louth.

226.

asked the Minister for the Environment the grant money he proposes to allocate in 1983 to Drogheda Corporation for the continuation of the improvement works on Donore Road, Drogheda, County Louth.

227.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the very bad state of Donore Road, Drogheda, County Louth, which has to service a very large housing area and an industrial estate; if he will consider favourably a request from Drogheda Corporation for a £200,000 allocation this year or partly this year and next year; and when he will sanction the application.

228.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will give sanction for work to commence on Rathmullan Road, Drogheda, County Louth; when the contract will be available for tender; and the time scale for completion of work envisaged under the contract.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 225 to 228, inclusive, together. The total road grant allocation to Drogheda Corporation in 1983 is £768,000 and it represents an increase of £262,900 on 1982. The allocation includes a special provision of £150,000 for Rathmullan Road and it is now open to Drogheda Corporation to invite tenders for the works. I understand it will take about two years to complete them. Having regard to priority work in the town, including the major improvement works at James Street, it was not possible to provide a special allocation for improvement works at Donore Road his year.
