Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Housing for Elderly.

275.

Mr. Leonard

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will increase the funding for the improvement of housing for the elderly under the task force scheme operated by health boards.

No provision for expenditure in 1983 by the Task Force on Special Housing Aid for the Elderly was made by the previous Government. However, a special provision of £1 million was made in the budget by the present Government. This provision has ensured the continuance of the very useful work done under the aegis of the task force but an increase in the amount provided is not contemplated at this stage.
