asked the Minister for the Environment the reason an improvement grant for a water supply will not be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The second instalment of the mortgage subsidy has been paid.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the long delay in carrying out house grant inspections in Counties Laois, Offaly, Kildare and Westmeath since 1 February 1983.

Earlier this year inspections in Counties Laois and Offaly were held up by an industrial relations problem relating to a vacancy in the inspectorate staff which came within the scope of current restrictions on the filling of vacant posts. However, this matter has now been resolved and normal work has been resumed.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a £1,000 new house grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and when it will be paid.

This grant has been paid.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

A grant cannot be paid in this case until the applicant notifies my Department that he has completed and occupied the house. An inspection will then be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

A grant cannot be paid in this case until an inspection establishes that the house is satisfactorily completed and occupied and complies with all the other conditions of the grant scheme. The file is with my Department's inspector for urgent investigation and report with a view to payment of the grant.
