Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Passport Charge.

314.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if pilgrims travelling to Lourdes will be exempted from the £30 passport charge.

It would not be possible to distinguish between pilgrims and other persons travelling abroad for the purpose of charging passport fees. However, the Deputy may have particularly in mind invalids who travel on organised pilgrimages. As I indicated in my written reply to Question No. 715 from Deputy O'Rourke on 19 April 1983, I am examining the possibility of introducing special passport facilities for travel abroad by invalids. This could take the form of a collective passport issued to groups of invalids at the cost of a single standard passport.
