Limerick East): Under the terms of the Garda Síochána (Discipline) Regulations, 1971, the taking of disciplinary action against a member of the force is a matter for the Commissioner.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that at present disciplinary proceedings have been adjourned in one case and deferred in another pending the outcome of High Court proceedings.
In a further case, the disciplinary proceedings, which had been adjourned pending the outcome of civil proceedings, were due to be resumed on 5 July but were again adjourned because of the absence on certified sick leave of the member concerned.
All but one of the members involved are on suspension.
